Meetings don’t need to be dreaded; they need to be done effectively.
It’s simple, but hard work. Follow these three rules and get the most out of your meetings.
- The meeting before the meeting. Preparation for a meeting is a must. Set your agenda with the key players. The agenda may be set and followed for recurring meetings. Always have an agenda.
- Start on time! Send a reminder to all attendees, and start your meetings on time. Repeat the goal of the meeting, follow your agenda, and keep on task. Have a note taker. End on time as well.
- Set Action Items. Have the note taker keep a list of the action items with deadlines for the attendees. Send the list out as soon as possible after the meeting, with a mid week reminder for completion of action items.
Ground Rules
Be on time, be prepared, respect all opinions, cell phones off.
